Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai - Things To Do In Chennai #4

Vanakkam, Makkale,

As you all know, we are doing "Things To Do In Chennai" series. The recent place that I visited in Chennai was Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore, Chennai. Despite knowing about this place for almost 25 years now, I never happened to visit this place until very recently.

Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai is the first branch center of the Ramakrishna Order in Southern India. It was started in the year 1897 by Swami Ramakrishnananda, a direct disciple of Sri Ramakrishna. Besides Swami Ramakrishnananda, the Math was visited by Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, Swami Brahmananda and Swami Shivananda. The motto of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission is: For one’s own salvation, and for the welfare of the world {Source: Here}

The moment I entered this Universal Temple, I was spellbound by its mighty infrastructure. It is so gigantic, marvelous, and beautiful, to say the least. These pictures have no filter, and taken through a mobile camera, yet the beauty of the place is so beautiful that it reflects in these pictures.
I was lucky enough to go on a full moon day, and trust me, it is the best day to visit this place. I really liked the ambiance and feel of this place.

The Beaming Infrastructure
The moment you enter the temple, there is a book stall that has quite a lot of spiritual books. There is also a Math Office to offer your donations. Proceeding further, one can leave their footwear in a separate stall, where it is kept safely for free of cost. After washing feet and hands, one can go to the Math hall, where Bhajans and Pooja are held.

The Math is filled with beautiful greenery that are a rare sight to see in Chennai. In short, the experience here was poignant and memorable. I wish to visit this place often. If you are in Chennai, and if you are wondering where you could go to have a peaceful evening, then go ahead, and visit this place. Trust me, you will definitely feel very peaceful at the end of the day.
